Built from the ground up by a talented local artisan, Cozy Cub Hideaway is a genuine Hearthstone log cabin located in a peaceful setting close to everything Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains have to offer. Able to accommodate up to six guests comfortably, this two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath mountain dwelling combines rusticity with luxury for a truly unforgettable vacation experience!
Destroyed in the 2016 wildfires, Cozy Cub Hideaway is back…and better than ever! First to meet the eye upon arrival is a gorgeous covered front porch complete with cedar railings, an old-fashioned porch swing, and roomy, locally crafted rockers. But don’t let them tempt you to relax before you’ve seen the inside!
There’s so much to love about this cozy-yet-roomy cabin…a floor-to-ceiling, double-sided stone fireplace separates the family room from the kitchen and dining areas without detracting from Cozy Cub Hideaway’s open feel that’s aided by soaring, beamed ceilings. Colorful rugs and a tasteful mix of antique and locally sourced log and upholstered furniture, accents and wall art add to the hideaway’s rustic charm.
Cozy Cub Hideaway actually boasts two separate sitting areas (each furnished with sumptuous sofas and chairs). The downstairs family room, with its cozy seating and huge, flat-screen cable TV, is so comfortable it feels like it was made for family movie nights. The upstairs loft is a great place to sit and chat, bond over a board game, or relax with a book while keeping an eye on the action below. Thanks to the queen sofa sleeper and extra bedding, the loft can also double as a third bedroom.
On the other side of Cozy Cub Hideaway’s panoramic, wood-burning fireplace are the kitchen and dining areas. The rustic wood dining table features six matching chairs, making it perfect for bonding over a family meal or board game. Just a few steps away, the gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with deluxe stainless steel appliances and all the cookware, dinnerware, and gadgets you could want. Glazed sandstone countertops and a butcher-block island give cooks plenty of space to work. There’s also a breakfast bar where family members can pull up a stool and chat while meal prep is in progress. The kitchen also boasts hand-rubbed oak cabinets and plenty of useful smaller appliances including a toaster, coffeemaker, microwave and blender.
On the main floor, Cozy Cub Hideaway’s primary suite serves as a private retreat for two. Stretch out on the luxurious king-sized bed and nap under the ceiling fan. Trouble sleeping? Tune the wall-mounted smart TV to your favorite show to see if that will help you nod off. Or step into the en suite bathroom and indulge in a long, steamy shower in the spacious shower stall with its North Carolina stacked rock walls and Creekstone tile floors.
Upstairs, the second bedroom is just as comfortable with a king-size bed, smart TV, and en suite full bathroom. All the bathrooms (including the convenient half-bath) are stocked with fresh towels, and the beds are made up with locally made quilts. And you can save room in your luggage for souvenirs – there’s a laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer ready for you to use when your wardrobe needs refreshing!
Out back, a spacious deck with cedar railings offers another place to unwind! Throw some steaks, fish fillets or vegetables on the Oklahoma Joe smoker grill and host a barbecue. Or relax under the starry sky with a glass of wine in the bubbling hot tub.
